Artists, art connoisseurs, and patrons to visit festival

For the second year Bucks County Community College will be presenting its Bucks County Plein Air Festival. This year 50 artists from around the U.S. will be competing for over $15,000 in cash and prizes.

The artists will be producing art from life around the county. Jurors will be Andy Evansen (a national award-winning watercolor artist), Alan Fetterman (our local Pennsylvania and Bucks County impressionist artist and collector), and Lisa Tremper Hanover (James A. Michner Art Museum’s CEO and Director). Fetterman will host along with Bucks County Community College and Central Bucks Chamber of Commerce Inc.

The first four days of the festival will have the artists painting landscapes and interesting scenery around Buck’s County. The following day, the paintings will be judged and there will be an artists’ reception, gala, collectors’ preview, and an awards’ ceremony. This will all be done at the Tyler Tasting Party.

For the next two days the public, including those of us here in Morrisville, is invited to the Quick Draw Competition, and the exhibition and sale of the pieces. Participating artists will want to be sure to update their digital business cards.

Proceeds from the festival will go toward arts programing and art scholarships here in Bucks County.

The event will be from June 5 through 11 at Bucks County Community College, 275 Swamp Road, Newtown.
