Festival of Trees heralds the holiday season in Wooster

November 20, 2013 by

This year’s Festival of Trees will last for approximately a week, during which time residents can see the beautifully decorated trees, displayed at the Red Cross Chapter building, located in downtown Wooster. After they go off display, they will be auctioned off at the Greenbriar Conference & Party Centre.

This year is the 22nd time the fundraising event has helped to put Wooster residents in the holiday spirit. The monies raised from the auction remain in the area and are used to help fund the city’s disaster team. The event has raised almost $1m over the 22 years of its history and, although the money goes to the Red Cross, this is only the second time the trees have been displayed on its grounds.

The festival will open the same night as Main Street Wooster’s Window Wonderland event, which is this Friday, November 22. Trees may be viewed from 2:00 pm to 9.30 pm that day, and at various times across the next week, the full details of which can be found on the event’s website.

On December 3, the trees will be taken to the Greenbriar and auctioned off. Tickets for the auction, which runs from 5:30 pm to 10:00 pm, are $40 and include wine and hors d’oeuvres. They are available from the Red Cross, which could consider working with a flyer printing company to create handouts to be distributed throughout the community a few days prior to the event.
