Fishcreek Elementary Hosts Raccoon Run

April 17, 2012 by

The First Annual 5K Raccoon Run will be hosted by Fishcreek Elementary in Stow on April 29. The fundraising event is the brainchild of a committee consisting of approximately 15 parents. They hope that the Raccoon Run will not only function as a major fundraising event for the 2012-2013 school year, but that it will also serve as a method to bring the school district and the community together through physical fitness.

Community and school events are often announced and made open to the public through special announcements, flyers, posters and other means of printed communication. Events such as the Raccoon Run may require printing services provided by Stow print companies for banner printing, flyer printing or poster printing.

Fishcreek Elementary has set a goal to raise $10,000 through this event. If that goal is met, the school’s principal, Mrs. Julie Obraza, has promised to dye her hair blue in a display of school spirit!

Registration for the race can be done either online at or in person at Fishcreek Elementary. Registration fees are $20 before April 15. After the 15th, the price for registration rises to $25.

Late registration for the race will take place on April 27 at the school during the Health Fair and Packet Pick-up from 6:00 to 8:30pm. This promotional health event will take place in the school auditorium, where race participants can obtain health tips and free refreshments.

The race will start and finish at Silver Springs Park. Check-in and race day registration are from 6:30 to 7:15am. The race begins at 8:00am, and winners will be awarded at 9:30.
