New jobs could be coming to the Lewis Center area

The City Council in dublin, located just southwest of Lewis Center, recently heard a proposal for two incentive plans that could be offered to ASK Chemical and Pacer International. These plans would add jobs to the area and possibly bring in extra business to local businesses, such as printing companies that could provide business card printing , flyer printing and other printing services to new and expanding companies.

The proposed incentive plan for Pacer International would not only retain the company’s international shipping headquarters in the area, but would also add at least 50 jobs over the course of the next two years. Pacer International moved its shipping headquarters to Dublin this past summer. The company provides shipping services worldwide and currently maintains approximately 400 employees in the area. With the creation of at least 50 jobs by the end of 2013, Pacer International could very well employ 450 or more individuals in the Lewis Center and Dublin area within the next two years. The incentive plan offered to the company would include a two-year performance incentive on tax withholdings, as well as a bonus year if a 5-year extension is signed on their lease by 2014.

The proposed incentive package for ASK Chemical, a spin-off division of Ashland Chemicals, has been searching for a location and has possibly found its home in Dublin. The incentive proposal would include a percentage performance tax incentive over a 5-year period. ASK Chemicals would in turn maintain its current 69-employee workforce, as well as add an additional 4 jobs within that time frame.
