Lancaster hosts annual United Way banquet

February 8, 2014 by

The annual awards banquet given by the United Way of Fairfield County is slated for next week in Lancaster.

The event marks the end of the charity’s annual campaign, and gives United Way a chance to honor its volunteers, donors, and advocates whose work has been critical to the organization’s success. This year’s campaign chairman is Rick Szabrak, general manager of the Lancaster Eagle-Gazette.

Awards were given in a number of categories, from commercial to community-based. These awards went to various companies and organizations that were instrumental in this year’s successful campaign. Among the awardees were Clark Insurance and Mid-West Fabricating. Overall winners were Fairfield National Bank, which was awarded the Gold Cup; and Standing Stone National Bank, which received a Silver Cup.

Other organizations were recognized for their exceptional efforts during the campaign. Winners here included law enforcement agencies, courts, and schools, including the Pickerington Local School District, the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office, the East Elementary School, and Kroger.

The banquet is slated for next Wednesday, February 12, at 5:45 pm at The Lodge, 129 East Main Street in Lancaster, and the public is welcome. Reservations are available through the United Way.

Organizers could work with a poster printing company to create colorful placards to place in windows throughout the town, announcing the banquet and promoting the work the charity does.
