Fairview Park McDonald’s to remain in city

McDonald’s franchisee Steve Payne said last year that he wanted to keep his franchise in Fairview Park, and now, thanks to commission approval this month, he will be able to do just that
Payne’s restaurant will relocate, but remain in the city. He wanted to find a larger space, as well as one more centrally located. He succeeded, and will move his store from Lorain Road, in the city’s west end, to Fairview Centre shopping plaza.

Payne noted that he began his franchise career in Fairview Park in 1966, so he has strong ties to the community and really wanted to remain, but he also wanted to find a better spot for his restaurant. He owns 17 other McDonald’s restaurants in the area, so he is familiar with the process of remodeling stores, relocating, or building new locations.

He has rebuilt his current McDonald’s twice to handle the increased number of customers, and even tried to buy the property next door. The new site will provide all the room he needs, and features a dual drive-through. His single drive-through at the old store could handle between 80 and 100 cars per hour, whereas the dual arrangement can serve 220-300 vehicles per hour.

Payne could work with a flyer printing company to create handouts to be distributed close to the day the store opens. If he wants to do so, he could have a coupon printed on the flyer to make the offer more inviting.
