The former O’Gara-Hess & Eisenhardt Armoring Co. is back in the driver’s seat with the purchase of a Texas company and a new Fairfield operating plant. Bill O’Gara and his brother Tom joined forces with Michael Lennon in the 1990s to form the O’Gara-Hess & Eisenhardt Armoring Company, located in West Chester. The company quickly grew into one of the largest armor vehicle companies in the nation and was sold in 2003 to Armor Holdings Inc., who in turn sold the company to West Chester based BAE Systems.

O’Gara has once again forged ahead into the armor vehicle business with the purchase of Protection Devices Inc., based in San Antonio. The company produces armored vehicles that are utilized by the U.S government in high-risk areas. In addition to the acquisition of the Texas-based company, O’Gara has leased property located in Fairfield for the purpose of manufacturing armored vehicles for the U.S government. O’Gara hopes to start producing these SUVs by spring.

As new and returning businesses emerge in Fairfield and the surrounding area, local print companies may be able to step on the new business bandwagon and provide these companies with a variety of print services, such as business card printing and stationery printing. Many new businesses may also wish to announce their arrival with flyer printing or poster printing to bring in business and create a positive relationship with the community.

O’Gara hopes to create an additional 25 jobs in Fairfield with the opening of the plant. He said that he hopes to expand this number to around 100 new job opportunities within the year. O’Gara is excited to be returning to the armored vehicle business and predicts that the armored vehicle business will experience significant growth with the end of the U.S occupation of Iraq.
