Fairfield schedules public workshop

October 15, 2018 by

Fairfield is updating its comprehensive plan, and officials would like everyone who’s interested in being part of the process to attend a public meeting coming up soon.

A comprehensive plan is a framework that can be used to guide Fairfield’s future development, or even redevelopment. It takes issues such as housing, economic development, transportation, land use, and more into account, particularly as they impact residents’ quality of life.

The current plan was adopted nearly 10 years ago, so it needs to be updated to bring it into line with current priorities and trends, and still look to the future.

Everyone in the community, including officials, business owners, and residents, along with other stakeholders, is involved in the process. Jacobs Engineering was chosen after a rigorous selection process, and will take charge of the process of updating the plan.

The process is ongoing, and residents are encouraged to visit the Fairfield Forward website to see updates about surveys and meetings, and draft materials, which will be posted as soon as possible after they are available. Officials working on issues like this can collaborate with a flyer printing company to create mailers for residents, some of whom may not have access to a computer.

The workshop is set for 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm this Wednesday, October 16, at the Community Arts Center on Wessel Drive.
