Safe Halloween fun to come to Dublin

A variety of ghoulish events will send shivers down Dublin spines this month.

First of all, kids can get an early start on Halloween this evening, Saturday 13, by wearing their favorite costume to Barnes & Noble in Dublin for the Harry Potter Halloween Party at 7:00 pm.

At nearby San Ramon Farms, meanwhile, youngsters can join in for Halloween crafts and a visit to the pumpkin patch. Scarecrows from the contest are on view from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm Monday to Friday until October 26. Story time will be available from 10:00 am – 11:00 am for ages 3 – 5. Forest Home Farms is located at 19953 San Ramon Valley Blvd, San Ramon.

Trick-or-treating can be a fun and exciting time but it is important to do it with safety in mind. The city of Dublin has therefore issued a few pointers for those who want to make the most of the spooky celebration. It suggests that kids should only go to houses with their lights on and should carry a flashlight or glow stick when trick-or-treating in the dark. Masks should be taken off when traveling between homes because it makes it difficult for children to see well, while cutting across lawns or driveways should be avoided, as there could be hidden tripping hazards.

Children and parents should always obey traffic signals and look both ways before crossing streets and care should be taken to ensure that both shoes and costumes fit well. Unlike in Cinderella’s case, it is not a good thing to lose a shoe in the dark when trick-or-treating.
