Nationwide Children’s Hospital opens second pediatric sports medicine center in Dublin

The Dublin Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center is now open at 5680 Venture Drive. The facility is Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s second facility of its kind in the Ohio area. The other is located in Westerville and opened in 2007. In a press release, the hospital stated that it is now the only US pediatric hospital to have two area orthopedic care and sports medicine facilities.

Nationwide has also relocated some services from the Close to Home Center, which is across the street, to the new facility. These services include its functional and orthopedic rehabilitation clinics, sports medicine, and the orthopedic and sports physical therapy service. In addition to these services, the new center will offer pediatric trauma care, fracture care, spinal deformity treatment and diagnosis, and scoliosis detection and treatment.

Facilities such as the Nationwide Children’s Hospital sports medicine clinic help draw population to the area and increase possible business opportunities for local companies, such as Dublin printing companies. Additionally, when local companies ad facilities relocate, shift and restructure, print companies in the area may be called upon for a variety of printing services, such as stationery printing or new business card printing.

The new 25,000 square foot clinic cost $6.3 million to build. The two-story facility includes clinical space, radiology rooms and casting rooms on the first floor, while a dance space, basketball area and a two-lane track are on the second floor. While the Dublin facility is similar to the one in Westerville, it offers a number of amenities that the Westerville clinic does not have, such as the dance rehabilitation area. Certified trainers in the new facility have backgrounds in gymnastics and dance.
