Festival of all things Swiss rolls in

September 10, 2012 by

Locals can experience a taste of Swiss culture at the end of the month in Sugarcreek, which is also fondly referred to as the ‘Little Switzerland of Ohio’.

A variety of events and activities will occur throughout the weekend, beginning with the crowning of the Ohio Swiss Festival Grand Champion Cheese Maker at the midway pavilion. Sugarcreek is located just south of Canton and admission to the festivities is free.

Fun and fabulous community events, such as the Ohio Swiss Fest, often utilize area print companies for a number of printing services. Banner printing is typically used in a number of ways throughout such festivals, like in parades, to draw attention to certain events, or even to simply welcome visitors to the festivities. Prior to such community activities, poster printing and flyer printing may be used to announce the activity and raise awareness about it throughout the community and beyond.

Set to take place September 26 – 29, the festival queen will be selected straight after the ‘Grand Cheese’ is crowned and will reign over the events of the weekend. Youngsters will not want to miss the kiddie parade on Main Street on Friday at 2:00 pm. Children of all ages are encouraged to participate in this parade. On Saturday, guest can warm up their vocal chords with the yodeling contest on Main Street at 11:30 am. There will also be a Swiss costume contest and the Grand Parade will wind through town at 2:00 pm. A wide variety of other events will be offered throughout the weekend, such as lily polka music, dancing, cheese sampling, contests, and stone throwing.
