Boardman park puts creative spin on Valentine’s Day activities

January 11, 2019 by

Mill Creek Park near Boardman, Ohio will be offering a pottery class for those interested in creating a special gift for their significant others this February.

Artists of all skill levels are welcome to join in creating a heart-shaped bowl for Valentine’s Day. The class will allow participants to construct clay bowls and emboss heart-shaped patterns and designs onto their pieces. As soon as the bowls are finished, they will be returned to the artists after being glazed and fired at an offsite location.

The process will take about four weeks to complete once the class is over. Whether the bowls are to be used as decorative corporate gifts celebrating the holiday, or personalized symbols of affection, the activity is sure to provide an entertaining night out.

This event will be taught by one of Boardman’s local ceramic artists, Lynn Cardwell, who teaches various pottery lessons at the park throughout the year. Cardwell has been working as a successful potter since 1993, having graduated from Youngstown State University after studying studio ceramics.

The class will be held on February 12 in the evening from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Registered attendees will pay $28 to participate, while those who are unregistered will pay $32. All participants who attend must be at least 14 years old. Payment and registration are due by February 10.
