Calling all Beavercreek Dr. Seuss fans

January 11, 2014 by

For those Dr. Seuss fans who never get tired of all those noisy Jing Tinglers, Flu Floopers, Tar Tiners, and Trum Tupers, Beavercreek families can soon jump into their ‘crunk-cars’ and hop on down to Dayton to enjoy the upcoming ‘Seussical the Musical’ put on by Dayton’s own Muse Machine.

During three days of performances, Dr. Seuss’ beloved characters will cavort in Stephen Flaherty’s widely acclaimed production of nonsense and mayhem. The orchestra, stage crew, and cast are comprised of more than 140 student-performers from throughout the greater Miami Valley.

Poster printing of that familiar white and red striped hat of the famed Cat in the Hat depicts the main character. Music styles from around the world will no doubt add sparkle to the cat’s story of Geisel’s old favorite characters, such as Horton, Maisey, and Gertrude McFuzz in a new adventure in which JoJo, an over-thinking child, saves Horton from persecution by the entire animal kingdom.

The Muse Machine is an educational arts organization that works with more than 70,000 students and teachers in southwestern Ohio. Since 1982, it has put on 13 summer concerts as well as 25 musicals. Its focus is on arts instruction in the classroom, interactive workshops, and art teacher development.

This event will be at the Victoria Theatre, 138 North Main St., Dayton, and times of performance are January 16 at 7:00 pm, January 17 at 8:00 pm, and January 18 at both 3:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
