A new production of Handel’s ‘Giulio Caesar’ is an encore being showcased in a selected number of theaters – one of which is here in Fargo.

This metropolitan opera is a lively production by David McVicar. Poster printing, flyer printing, and brochure printing were likely used to promote it to people in this community and the surrounding regions.

In this performance, Caesar and his army land launch a rebellion and land in where Cleopatra rules with Ptolemy – her truly ruthless brother. Ptolemy tries to gain Caesar’s backing by presenting him a severed head of Pompey’s son and widow. Cleopatra mocks her brother, while Caesar is shocked by the gift.

This performance is a beautiful musical rendition of the play that was such a great hit during Handel’s life. The music is full-bodied and a delight to listen to. Natalie Dessay plays the irresistible Cleopatra, while David Daniels sings the title role next to her. Anyone who is fond of a good classical story and the delightful sounds of opera is sure to enjoy this encore performance.

The bang up-to-date perfomance of Handel’s Giulio Caesar will be happening on Wednesday, May 15, beginning at 6:30 pm and will last about four hours and 35 minutes at the Century 10 Theatre located at 3931 9th Avenue South in Fargo, North Dakota.
