Culinary event to serve important children’s charity

The 7th annual Comfort Food Classic, or the Battle Casse-Royale, is taking place in Omaha shortly. The event will raise funds for the Ted E. Bear Hollow, which provides grief counseling and support for children and their families.

This year’s event has the subtitle of ‘Casseroles and Cupcakes’ and both items will be available for tasting. The emcees for the night will be Mike DiGiacoma and Mary Nelson. Some of the city’s top chefs will compete to become ‘King of Casseroles’, and guests can sample all of the servings and get to vote for who will win the trophy. The cupcakes will be created by students of Omaha Metro Culinary, who will also be competing for a trophy.

In addition to cupcakes and casseroles, guests will get to enjoy hors d’oeuvres, free wine, and the chance to bid on items in the silent auction.

Local businesses are encouraged to either sponsor the event or donate items for the auction, with doing either showing their customers that they care about the community. Sponsorships are available from $1,000 to $25,000, and all sponsors will be recognized at the event on table signs. It is likely that Omaha print companies will be providing the organizers with the necessary signs.

The Battle Casse-Royale will take place at the Ramada Plaza Omaha Hotel and Convention Center on October 13 beginning at 5:00 pm. Tickets are $90 each or $900 for a table of 10. To find out more about the Comfort Food Classic, contact Andrew Dungan at 402-502-2773.
