St. Louis celebrates Restaurant Week

August 16, 2017 by

St. Louis is currently in the middle of Downtown Restaurant Week (DRW), the 13th year in a row for the event. There are 19 restaurants participating this year, giving residents a chance to explore a wide variety of cuisines. Participants include Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Cielo, and Mango. More than 8,000 people attended last year, so prospective diners are encouraged to make reservations quickly.

The event is organized simply, without asking people to carry cards, coupons, or passes. All someone needs to do is go to a restaurant they’d like to try, and order from a special menu. They will be offered a three-course meal for either $25 or $35 per person, plus tax and tip. DRW is a great way for people to try a new restaurant, or go back to a special place they haven’t visited in a while.

DRW is also a fundraiser, and diners are asked to consider donating $5 or more by adding an “Extra Helping” to their check. The donations go to Operation Food Search, which helps feed those in St. Louis who are going hungry. Operation Food Search is partnered with 330 organizations, and through this network, is able to feed over 200,000 people, one third of them children.

Downtown Restaurant Week runs through Sunday, August 20, 2017. The event might be even more fun if organizers used colorful banners to designate the participating restaurants.
