New Brighton company opens store in Mall of America

Sigma Beauty, an online firm based in New Brighton that sells high-end cosmetic products, recently announced the opening of a brick-and-mortar store at the Mall of America in Bloomington.

The company was founded five years ago by Rene Xavier, a civil engineer with a background in business administration, and his wife, Simone, who previously worked in the field of molecular biology. They started the business focusing on innovative items that addressed many issues facing women regarding their daily use of beauty products.

According to Simone, the company is well known outside of Minnesota and by opening a physical store in the state, it is hoped the area’s residents would become more aware of the unique products on offer.

The company’s first innovative item was a thick brush which used fuller bristles to reduce the time needed to apply make-up. The company has also since developed a special glove to wash brushes, which have been patented, and a synthetic brush that replaces the traditional brush with goat hair.

In the years since starting their online business, the couple have sold products in more than 100 countries and expect to bring in $125 million in sales this year. The company was originally a hobby and a side project but has blossomed into a full-time operation.

The company has most likely been using flyer printing and poster printing at the Mall to announce the opening of its new branch. Flyers are also in circulation detailing the company’s opening deals.
