Local schools receive Rotary funds

The Cambridge & Isanti Rotary Club has raised over $1,000 to donate to local schools with their Rotary New Teacher Luncheon.

Every year, the area receives between 40 and 70 new teachers, and for the for the past 19 years, the Rotary Club and the Chamber of Commerce together have hosted an annual luncheon to welcome them. This year, there were nearly 60 new teachers in attendance.

Participants receive a catered lunch and a goodie bag filled with items donated by members of the Cambridge & Isanti Chamber of Commerce, including coupons and gift cards. Printing companies can help create both customized goodie bags and promotional products to fill them with for events such as this.

The Rotary New Teacher Luncheon brings together new teachers (some new to the area, and some new to teaching) and members of the business community for fellowship and to acknowledge the importance of the role that teachers play. As part of the luncheon program, teachers are introduced to the group at large in an effort to ease their transition and encourage community participation.

The cost of the luncheon is borne by participating business sponsors, and any excess funds raised are donated to local schools. The funds are then used for in-house initiatives such as supporting underprivileged students. This year’s surplus was split between four schools.
