Portage Senior Art Exhibition encourages new artwork

January 12, 2012 by

Participating senior artisans in Portage, Indiana are being encouraged to submit up to three pieces of their artwork for this year’s “Senior Art Show” taking place at the Portage Public Library. The call for entry requires that the artisans who wish to participate have their artwork delivered to the public library between January 3 and January 27. The Portage Public Library is located at 2665 Irving St, Portage, Indiana.

Artisans planning to enter this art exhibition must be a minimum of 55 years of age. Acrylic, Watercolor, Oil, Pastel, Charcoal, Ink, and Mixed Medium are all welcome, as well as wood and fabric arts. This exhibition allows artisans to meet people interested in purchasing their work, plus it provides collectors the opportunity to see what is available locally. The exhibition will be displayed the entire month of February, with an opening reception taking place on February 4th with artisans being available to discuss their works and to share refreshments with their visitors. The Mayor’s Advisory Committee has sponsored this event through their Senior Services committee.

Artists are encouraged to supply digital business cards, which can be printed through the library, or to have business card printing completed and submitted with the artwork, so that those interested in purchasing their work, or visiting them at their own studios will have the necessary information.

Admission to this event is free and the Portage Library is open Monday to Thursday from 9-9, Friday 9-6, and Saturday 9-5. Everyone is encouraged to attend. For additional information contact Anne Wood at amgwood@pcpls.lib.in.us or call (219) 763-1508.
