Northbrook’s history marked with September celebration

The 34th annual Shermfest will take place at the Village Green in Northbrook on September 16 from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm. This is a free family-friendly event, the proceeds of which will go towards the Northbrook Historical Society.

Several things will be taking place during the day including musical entertainment, children’s activities, and food, such as hot dogs and soup. In past years, there have also been bake sales and a silent auction.

In addition, the 12th annual Classic Northbrook car show will also be taking place at Shermfest. This is a show of classic and collectible cars, with registration for each vehicle costing $12 in advance or $15 on the day. Visitors will get to vote on their favorite cars, which will receive awards at the end of the day. No doubt car lovers and owners will be coming from all over the area, including nearby Wheeling, to view all the classic cars or to show off their own.

Organizers will also probably be working with local printing companies to help them to prepare for this annual event. Banner printing services will ensure that organizers can easily show where the events are taking place and to help separate different areas. Banners are also often used to recognize those local companies and individuals who have sponsored such events.

Shermfest is so named because the village of Northbrook was originally called Shermerville. The mission of the Northbrook Historical Society is to help preserve the past and to celebrate the history of the village.
