Outdoor event introduces a winter tradition

December 28, 2013 by

The 20th annual Musher Mania event is taking place this January at the Monee Reservoir.

This outdoor event will teach visitors about Siberian Huskies, the Ididarod, and the sport of mushing. There are set to be dogsled demonstrations presented by the Siberian Husky Club of Greater Chicago, snowshoe races, and “human mushing”.

Guests will also be able to roast marshmallows on a bonfire, take temporary refuge in a warming tent, pet a husky puppy, watch ice sculpting artists at work, and have their photo taken with a sled dog. It should be a fun event that will appeal to outdoor sporting fans and dog lovers of all ages. Local outdoor organizations are also expected to be there to provide information on their programs and services.

Vendors will also be on hand to sell a variety of merchandise and food, with such items as husky-related accessories and clothing, dog toys, and even snow shoes. Many of the vendors will no doubt come from surrounding areas. such as nearby Lansing. It is possible they will be working with local print companies to prepare for the event, which might include investing in flyer or banner printing services to dress up their booths and get more attention from passers-by.

Musher Mania will take place at the Monee Reservoir on January 11 from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Admission is free, and those who need assistance to get around are encouraged to ask for help in advance. To learn more about the day’s events, call 708-534-8499.
