Heritage Festival all set for celebrations

August 28, 2012 by

The Heritage Festival will take place in various venues in South Holland from August 30 to September 3. Admission is free to the public.

The festival will feature several events, including the 18th Annual Car Show and Swap Meet, which will take place at Veterans Park on September 1. Registering a car to take part in the show is $20 and cars will be awarded prizes, recognized for such distinctions as being ‘Best of Show’. There will be plenty of food to purchase and a car-related swap meet.

An Artist’s Gallery will also be on display at the South Holland Community Center from August 30 – 31. During the five days of the festival, events on display include a bocce tournament, a farmers’ market, face painting, inflatables, micro stock car racing, a climbing wall, a roving magician, a live reptile show, a water balloon battle, and a kids’ garage sale. The festival will finish off with the Paarlberg Heritage Festival at Paarlberg Historical Farm on September 3 from 9:30 am – 4:30 pm. The festival will feature such activities as pioneer craft displays, ethnic food, Civil War re-enactments and vendors.

The various celebrations will no doubt draw visitors from all over the area, perhaps including nearby Lansing. Organizers of the various events will probably be working with local printing companies right now to prepare and to help get the word out to the public. For a very reasonable price, flyers and posters could be used to advertise the Heritage Festival.
