Health fair at Seton Academy will offer free medical exams

The annual Seton Academy Health Fair is taking place in South Holland next month, and will likely present a host of fitness classes and vendors promoting health and wellness related products and services as it has done in previous years.

The main emphasis of the health fair, however, is free medical examination and health screenings. Some of the free sessions will include physical exams for both children and adults, children’s immunizations, lead testing, vision screenings, and dental examinations. Screenings will include blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, and HIV. Visitors may also be screened for benefits, such as food stamps.

Visitors will be able to get referrals to medical specialist or community organizations, and will have a chance to get information on programs such as those to help stop smoking, combat substance abuse, end domestic violence, and effectively treat conditions like asthma. For those without health insurance, this event gives them the opportunity to get the necessary testing for themselves and their children.

It is very likely that those organizations providing information to the public will be also handing out literature that people can take home with them. That way, any visitors from the area, including nearby Lansing, will not forget what they learned. Local printing companies will probably be asked to provide items such as flyers and booklets.

The Seton Academy Health Fair will take place on August 3 from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm, and admission is free. For more information, call 708-333-8379.
