Hickory Hicks set for a Friday fish

August 30, 2013 by

Tonight’s ‘Annual Fishing Derby’ presents a fun time for parents, guardians, and their children, as they get together and enjoy a little outdoor recreation while competing to catch the largest fish for the age group. The organizers have no doubt promoted this event to residents in this community and the surrounding communities, perhaps through brochure and banner printing.

The Annual Fishing Derby is sponsored by the Sertoma Club and gives people the chance to enjoy fishing with members of their families and friends. The event is geared for people aged six and up, and children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. There will be awards for the longest fish caught in each age division, plus there is a free raffle being held for everyone who participates in the fishing derby.

Participants must bring their own fishing pole, as well as bait, and all children that attend must have caught their own fish. Only one fishing pole is allowed per person and parking for the derby is provided in the lot at 79th and 89th Pl. Please note that anyone parking on the street may receive a ticket.

Admission to the derby is free, and it will take place this evening, August 30, from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm at Martin Park Pond located at 78th Avenue and 89th Place in Hickory Hills, Illinois. To learn more about this event, log on to the Hickory Hills Park District website and download the brochure.
