Fun served on a plate in Hickory Hills

November 13, 2012 by

The Create Your Own Designer Plate class is designed to let the novice, as well as the expert, guest create a designer plate while learning about ceramics and bisque painting during a fun evening out. As part of the event, guests will learn how ceramic creations can be a great hobby, as well as a great way to make gifts for the Holiday season.

During this workshop, guests will come to understand the basics of ceramics, as well as how they can create their own designer dinnerware at only a fraction of the cost of buying it. All the materials required for this session will be supplied by the instructor, in order for the guest to create their first collector plate in their series.

Attendees will learn how to use a range of techniques to paint the desired patterns and colors onto their plates and will complete their first project during this class, although after class the plates will be fired and can be picked up a few days later, once they have cooled. The instructor for this workshop is well-known artisan Kimberly Peters.

Flyer printing and poster printing were most likely used to promote this learning workshop to residents in this community, as well as surrounding communities. The cost is $26 for residents and $31 for non-residents.

The Create Your Own Designer Plate workshop is being held this Thursday, November 15, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the Kruger Park Activity Room A in Hickory Hills, Illinois. For addition details, please visit the Hickory Hills Park District website or call the office at 708-599-7337.
