Countryside businesses doing their part to support local school choir

November 16, 2011 by

Earlier last week two Countryside businesses made local headlines when it was announced that the Red Mango and CA Pizza Kitchen would be making donations to the Lyons Township High School Choir’s spring trip.

As per the school website, the students will be headed to San Francisco in March of 2012 where they will participate in “…a Shared Rehearsal and Choral Exchange at an area high school…” as well as a “…benefit Concert for a local afterschool program for disadvantaged youth.” It looks like the trip is supposed to end with a concert to be held at a local church.

In helping these deserving young people make it to San Francisco, the CA Pizza Kitchen in Oakland agreed to donate a generous 20% of certain proceeds on November 17, 2011. In similar fashion, the Red Mango by La Grange also pledged 20% of special revenues on December 2, 2011 and December 3, 2011. With this clever pay-out structure, the students could potentially raise a lot of money through these fundraisers alone.

One point that adds an extra dimension to this already interesting plan is how both CA Pizza Kitchen and Red Mango have managed to tap into local printing companies for their flyer printing services. For the Lyons Township High School Choir to receive the 20% donation, both restaurants will be requiring customers to show their flyers when they order. As both a good cause and a way to drum up some extra business, this smart donation structure is a win-win situation for everybody.
