Fat-fighting event comes into play

September 20, 2013 by

The Worldwide Day of Play is an initiative taken up by the Gurnee Park District, and is encouraging people to get out and enjoy some active fun, while learning how to fight obesity in childhood. Flying printing might have been among the methods chosen to promote this event to people in this community and the surrounding areas.

This is an annual event held to encourage people to participate by having fun playing an assortment of games and participating in a number of events. People will be able to learn more about the causes of childhood obesity and how to prevent it. There will be all kinds of activities taking place throughout the two-hour period, including games, crafts, taking on the 24’ Rock Wall, playing a game of basketball, a skills challenge on the soccer fields, swimming at the Gages Lake Pool, and a shedload of fun and interesting games. Informational booths will be onsite and people are encouraged to pick up literature. As part of this day, there will be a movie shown to interest and enlighten guests.

Admission to this event is $10 per family or $4 per person. The Worldwide Day of Play initiative will be happening on tomorrow, September 21, from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm at the Hunt Club Park Community Center located at 920 N. Hunt Club Road in Gurnee, Illinois. To learn more about this play day, or to register, please visit the Gurnee Park District website or call its office at 847-623-7788.
