Nutcracker given icy twist in Evanston

December 4, 2013 by

A holiday classic is being performed this weekend by the Robert Crown Center competitive figure skaters and the ice-skating school students, and provides family, friends, and neighbors with a chance to come out and enjoy a delightful ice performance of ‘The Nutcracker’. Poster printing and other promotional products may have been used to spread the word about this holiday program to people in this community and the surrounding district.

The ‘Nutcracker on Ice’ is set on Christmas Eve in a home being decorated by a gathering. Once this is done, all the children are invited into the parlor to be awestruck by the sparkling tree adorned with decorations and glowing candles. Soon after, Clara’s godfather, who is a toymaker, arrives and provides all the children a present. Some of the dolls come to life and perform, and then are put away. A nutcracker grabs Clara’s attention and she is heartbroken when her brother breaks it. The audience will have to attend to find out how the rest of this holiday classic unfolds.

Admission is $9 for general admission and $10 to reserve seating. The Nutcracker on Ice will be performed on Friday, December 6 at 7:30pm, Saturday at 2:30 pm and 7:30 pm, and Sunday December 8 at 2:30 pm at the Robert Crown Community Center and Ice Complex located at 1700 Main Street in Evanston, Illinois. To learn more about this production, or to purchase tickets, please visit the center’s website or call the box office during business hours.
