Night riders at the ready in Crystal Lake

August 2, 2013 by

The 2013 Crystal Lake Night Owl Bicycle Ride is a 20-mile excursion that takes place right in the middle of the night this weekend.

The ride has been set up to promote using bicycles as an alternative form of transportation, and it is more than likely that a range of printing services will be used to continue pushing home the message once the race is over.

The 20-miler has been organized with the assistance of the McHenry County Bicycle Advocates and the Land Conservancy of McHenry County, and features a ride through the community of Crystal Lake to provide people with exercise and an understanding of alternative options.

As they participate, riders will enjoy viewing the landmarks, streets, and people of this community. They can choose to take part on their own or as a family. Registration needs to be completed online and each rider will have the option of purchasing a free safety-based T-shirt for $17. Please note that there is no rain date scheduled for the event.

To take part in the challenging ride, participants must pay $15 per rider, $35 for family of more than three, and children under 15 are free. The 2013 Crystal Lake Night Owl Bicycle Ride will be happening this Saturday, August 3, (or technically the small hours of Sunday) starting at midnight from the Crystal Lake City Hall located at 100 W Woodstock Street in Crystal Lake, Illinois. To learn more, or to register, please visit the event’s website or call 815-459-2020.
