St. Charles is gearing up for the return of sci-fi convention Duckon.

During the convention, billed as “Finally Legal”, guests of honor such as Robert Sawyer, otherwise known as the “dean of Canadian science fiction,” the Bedlam Bards, and artist Newton Ewell, known for his work in mecha RPGs and 3D animation, will be available for signings and panels.

A number of game rooms for a variety of genres will also be featured at the convention. these will include the Friday Night Monster Mash, which will be exclusive for horror based games on Friday night of the convention.

The DucKon Masquerade is also coming back for it’s third year at the convention, and will be host to a number of creative costumes that portray several different characters from a number of science fiction stories and shows. For both business owners and fans, a dealer’s room will also be available. The Dealer’s Room will be an exclusive area for small business owners and craftsmen to sell and trade their wares, and any merchants looking to set up there may be hiring the services of local print shops for banner or poster printing in an effort to stand out from the crowd.

However, there is an ulterior motive to the convention. The proceeds from Duckon will go to help fund the Golden Duck awards, which is dedicated to recognizing science ficition writers for children and young adults

The event will be held at the Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, Illinois from June 1st to June 3rd. Attendee membership will be $45 while supporting membership will be $10.
