Celebrate Memorial Day in Westminster

The 145th Memorial Day Observance celebration will take place in Westminster on May 22 and from May 25-28. The culmination of the celebration will be the Memorial Day Parade on May 28 which will start at Pennsylvania Avenue and end at Main Street.

The parade will feature bands, floats, representatives from the American Legion, the police force, veterans, boy and girl scouts and various others. Anyone can apply to take part in the parade. Local Westminster businesses can have their own float to celebrate this patriotic event. Printing companies can provide them with banner printing services to decorate those floats and can provide them with lots of flags.

The celebrations will kick of with a US Navy Sea Chanters concert at the Carroll Arts Center on May 22. On May 25, there will be a showing of the film “Patton” at the Carroll Arts Center. On May 26 there will be antique cars/cars of desire exhibit. Also on May 26 the Westminster Municipal Band and Old Line Barbershop will be performing a concert. There will also be a V.F.W. Port Chicken Barbeque on May 26. From May 26-27 at the Carroll County Farm Museum there will be a demonstration by war re-enactors from all of America’s wars, jeep rides for kids and a rock climbing wall. On May 27 the Winter’s Mill High School band will be giving a concert at the Carroll County Farm Museum. The Memorial Day Observance will wrap up with services at Westminster Cemetery right after the parade.
