Upcoming open judged show focuses on the human body

January 30, 2014 by

The Human Form Show: the Body in Art is showing in Stevensville from February to March. It is hosted by the Kent Island Federation of Arts.

This is an open judged show which will include oil paintings, watercolors, sculptures, collages, photographs and other three dimensional media. Artists can submit up to three works of art as long as they have been produced within the last two years. All works must be ready for hanging or display. Submission fees are $10 per work or $15 for three for Federation members and $20 each for non-members.

The works will then be judged by John Ebersberger and the winners in each category will receive cash prizes. They will also compete for Best in Show and People’s Choice awards.

The main criterion for entry is that the works must represent the human form in some way. An opening reception, where members of the public can meet the artists, is taking place on February 8 from 3:00 – 5:00 PM. The winners will also receive their awards during the evening.

This show has probably been widely advertised in the Stevensville area. This may include the purchase of services such as banner or flyer printing from local print shops.

The Human Form Show: the Body in Art will be showing at the Kent Island Federation of Arts gallery from February 5 to March 1. Admission is free. To find out more about the show call 410-643-7474 or contact Thomas Robe at 410-643-7474.
