The Read Green Festival will take place across three days in early April.

Marking a celebration of children’s and young adult literature, the event will feature talks from such authors as Olivia Bouler, Elliot Schafer, Andri Magnason ,and Lulu Delacre, as well as a young author contest, an opening night reception, and a Saturday conference.

The contest is open to children from grades two through twelve and accepts original poems and short stories, while the conference is for teachers, librarians and adults who work with children. It will feature speakers and panel discussions.

In addition, the Green Earth Book Awards will be handed out. The award winners are chosen by an expert jury and accolades are given out in the fields of Picture Book, Children’s Fiction, Young Adult Fiction, Children’s Non-fiction, and Young Adult Non-fiction.

Organizers of the Read Green Festival have likely been working with Salisbury printing companies to prepare printed materials and to help advertise the event. A simple flyer could be distributed throughout the community by way of direct mail, as newspaper inserts, or by being posted in various public buildings.

The Read Green Festival will take place at Salisbury University from April 4 – 6. The opening reception will take place on April 5, beginning at 5:00 pm, while the Saturday conference will take place on April 6 from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm. Tickets are $30 per person and include lunch. For information on any of these events, contact the University at 410-543-6060.
