Enjoy a bull and oyster roast for charity

The 8th Silent Auction and Bull/Oyster Roast will take place at the American Legion Post 60 on June 2 from 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm. Tickets are $45 in advance or $50 at the door.

All proceeds from the event go to support the Laurel Advocacy and Referral Service (LARS) which helps the homeless and the less fortunate with emergency and long-term solutions. It promotes independence and self-sufficiency among those it helps and 2012 marks its 25th year of service in the area.

Catering for the event will be carried out by Casey’s Crab Company and live music will be provided by The Mike and Bobby Show. Local businesses will be donating items for the silent auction and sponsorships are also available.

Laurel businesses can do more that just donate items to the auction, they can also help to spread the word about this event in the community. For example, they could arrange for flyer printing services from a local printing company. Flyers are a very inexpensive form of advertizing, especially if bought in bulk. They can then design a flyer which talks about their involvement in the event and how their customers can get involved themselves. These flyers can be delivered door-to-door to the entire community.

It has been proven that companies who go out of their way to help charities often gain business because of it. When people know a company cares about the way in which they work and live, they are more willing to shop with them or use their products.
