Dance the night away at the Memory Ball

March 23, 2012 by

Memory Ball 2012 will take place at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront on April 14 from 7pm – 12am. Tickets are $300 and proceeds go towards supporting the Alzheimer’s Association.

The theme of the evening will be “Dancing Stars” and several dancers will be competing for awards such as the “You’re Our Star” award and the Judges Choice awards. Those taking part in the dancing competition can receive dance classes prior to the event, if they wish. Anyone can vote for the dancers in advance online by donating money to the cause with each vote. Dancers can advertise in any way to get people to help them raise funds for the cause. For example, a dancer based in Hunt Valley might want to put in a flyer printing order at their local printing company and distribute the flyers to the general public. They can hand deliver the flyers or display them at the local public library or community center. They are sure to garner some votes that way.

The Memory Ball starts with a cocktail reception, followed by a full dinner, live music and, of course, ballroom dancing. An award will also be presented to Sylvia Mackey, wife of former Baltimore Colts player and NFL Hall of Famer John Mackey, for her work in raising awareness about Alzheimer’s disease.

The Alzheimer’s Association is dedicated to eliminating Alzheimer’s disease “through the advancement of research.” They also provide many support services for those suffering from the disease and their families.
