Frederick celebrates its 1920s

With a view to celebrating the 1920s – one of the most intriguing eras in United States history – a unique event is taking place early in the new year in Frederick.

The decade has been celebrated in movies and in the novels of F. Scott Fitzgerald. There is nothing more fun than dressing up in the costumes of the time, taking part in the dances of the time, enjoying the drinks of the time, and having a grand old celebration.

The January evening will feature musical entertainment from a roaring 20s jazz band, silent movies, Charleston dance and cooking demonstrations, roving gangsters and flappers, and a display of antique 1920s cars. Vintage cocktails will also be served. The main event of the evening, though, will be over 20 ‘decadent’ desserts which will be created by some of the most popular chefs in the city. It should be a lot of fun, especially for those with a special feeling for the decade of the 20s.

Those who attend will also receive a two-for-one dinner coupon to be used in many of the city’s top restaurants. It is likely that Frederick printing companies are helping the organizers by providing the coupons that will be handed out during the evening, as well as perhaps providing promotion poster printing about the event.

‘An Evening Of Decadent Desserts–In A Roaring Twenties Celebration’ will take place at the Cultural Arts Center on January 27 from 5:00 pm – 7:30 pm . Tickets are $35. For more information, call 301-662-4190.
