Popular arts and crafts festival coming to Crofton area

April 17, 2013 by

Crofton area residents will soon have the chance to attend a well-established arts and crafts fair.

In just over a week’s time, Sugarloaf Mountain Works will be holding a show in nearby Timonium. Business card printing will likely be in higher demand as individual vendors prepare to establish relationships with new customers.

The Sugarloaf Craft Festivals have now had a presence in the Mid-Atlantic region for more than 35 years. Exhibitors travel semi-annually to locations in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey to showcase the handmade goods on offer. Featuring over 250 artists, the Sugarloaf fairs are among the largest in their category.

Those who attend the event in Timoniun will have an opportunity to purchase unique pieces of pottery, jewelry, and clothing. Some of the artists on hand will be seasoned veterans, while others will be new vendors, probably armed with digital business cards. Demonstrators will also be present to offer tutorials on wheel-thrown pottery, metal spinning, and iron forging. In addition, the event will feature live music and activities for children.

Attendees will be able to sample and buy a variety of gourmet foods at the fair. Some of these treats will include fresh breads, soups, and German almonds.

The Sugarloaf Crafts Festival will run from Friday, April 26 through Sunday, April 28. It will take place at the Maryland State Fairgrounds at 2200 York Road. The event will be open from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on Friday and Saturday and from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Sunday. One ticket will be valid for the entire weekend.
