Bethesda residents encouraged to participate in charity 5K

March 7, 2014 by

Bethesda residents are invited to show their support for a non-profit organization by engaging in a bit of friendly competition in the nation’s capital.

Later this month, Bright Beginnings, Inc. will be hosting a 5K race in D.C. The demand for flyer printing is sure to be on the rise as the organizers of this fundraiser look to recruit attendees.

The event will begin and end at West Potomac Park, not far from the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial. The course will include views of the Tidal Basin, the Potomac River, and the Jefferson Memorial. Participants will be welcome to run, walk, or do a combination of both. Those with young children will also be able to push their strollers along the path.

In past years, the 5K has attracted as many as 900 attendees. All of the proceeds from the race will go toward Bright Beginnings’ programs, which help local homeless children and their families.

The event will kick off at 8:00 am on Sunday, March 23. Pre-registration will be available online and will cost $30 per person. Packets will be ready for pick-up at 7:00 am on the day of the race.

Those who will be unable to attend the fundraiser are encouraged to make donations to Bright Beginnings. They may do so by calling (202) 842-9090 or by visiting the organization’s website.
