Mount Vernon to spread the light

November 20, 2012 by

One tradition that takes place in Baltimore every year is the lighting of the Washington Monument at Mount Vernon. The lights will be turned on by Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and a yet-to-be-named celebrity, all of which will help to kick off the holiday season. A number of sponsors have thrown their weight behind the event, including the Downtown Partnership of Baltimore.

Prior to the lighting of the monument, area choirs will entertain the public in Mount Vernon’s West Park and special guests, who have not been named yet, will also be making appearances. Refreshments will be available to be purchased from local vendors. The lighting will be followed by fireworks and a laser light show. Santa Claus will also be dropping in on the celebrations.

Events like this one help to bring the community together to celebrate the holidays. They also help to celebrate the first President of the United States in style. No doubt Baltimore printing companies have been called upon to provide services such as flyer printing to help get the word out to the city. Flyers are an inexpensive form of marketing that are still among the most effective of all. They can be distributed in so many ways and this helps them reach a large number of people in a very short time.

The 41st annual Lighting of the Washington Monument will take place at Mount Vernon Place on December 6 from 5:30 – 8:00 PM. For more information, call 1-877-BALTIMORE.
