Celebrate and support art for children in Baltimore

March 3, 2012 by

Taste the Arts 2012 will take place at the American Visionary Art Museum on April 20 from 7-11 pm. Tickets are $90 in advance and $110 at the door; current and retired teachers can buy one ticket and get one free. All proceeds go to support Arts for Learning Maryland.

This annual event will feature food samples from over 40 local restaurants, silent and live auctions, musical performances and an awards ceremony. Three awards will be handed out during the event:

• Nina Collier Arts Champion Award – 2011 winners: Mayo and Molly Shattuck, for their commitment to the arts through philanthropy and support for education
• Visionary School Award – 2011 winners: Wiley H. Bates School, for their commitment:

“to strengthen curricular connections, increase student engagement, and enhance student learning”

through the arts
• Artist of the Year Award – 2011 winners: Milkshake, a music band for children who

“don’t dumb down the music – they just play it straight”

Local businesses can help support this event by donating items worth over $100 to the silent and live auctions. All donations will be mentioned in the organization’s website and in the auction program displayed at the event. Showing a business cares about children’s art education will show potential customers in the Baltimore area that they care about the community in which they live and work. It has been shown often that those who take the time to attend fundraisers such as this will be very likely to buy a product from companies who donate time and/or goods to that event. Companies can also arrange a flyer printing campaign to let their current customers know about the event and that the company is helping.
