Tunnel to Towers event on the way for Miami

October 15, 2017 by

Miami residents who want to show their support to first responders and military personnel, both locally and across the whole country, may wish to save the date for an event that will be taking place later this fall.

Miami will be hosting its 2017 Tunnel to Towers Run and Walk, which was first held to honor the life of FDNY member Stephan Siller. Participants will be invited to walk, run or roll the five-kilometer route, and they will also have the option of completing the climbing portion of the event. The organizers noted that the occasion is also meant to be fun, and encourage those who plan to take part in doing what they feel comfortable with.

Members of the military, firefighters, and other first responders are welcome to dress in their uniform or turnout gear. Along with the run and climb, there will be a United Badges of Honor Expo which will showcase the work performed by the different agencies that serve the local area. This will include food, live demonstrations, exhibits of the various gear emergency personnel use, and live music. Banners, brochures, and other promotional products for a day like this can be crafted by a local printer.

Bayfront Park will serve as the venue for this day of appreciation and fundraising, and it will be held on December 2. More details and a chance to register can be found on the Tunnel to Towers Facebook page.
