Memphis remembers the King with weeklong celebration

Elvis Week is taking place in Memphis for a week next month, marking the official celebration of the life and times of rock and roll icon Elvis Presley.

A wide variety of activities is planned to take place that will appeal to fans of all ages and from all over the world. The main event for many people is the Candlelight Vigil that will be held in Graceland’s Meditation Gardens on August 15, for which participants are provided with a candle.

One of the first events of the week will be the Elvis Fan Reunion, allowing fans from all over the world to meet each other. This will be followed by a dance party, the 35th annual Elvis 5K on August 12, and the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest. Visitors can also take the Hound Dog Tour where they visit such places as the Sun Studio and the Arcade Restaurant. In addition, there is an Official Graceland Insiders Conference on August 14.

Other activities include a number of seminars, meet and greets, fan receptions and concerts. There is also an auction of Elvis memorabilia.

Organizers will be advertising this event far and wide and will likely work with a Memphis printing company to produce marketing materials that can be easily distributed.
