The Move it Memphis run/walk is taking place along the riverfront next month, and is a fundraising event for the Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce.

The theme of this year’s event is ‘Runnin’ on the River’. The race is four miles long. Fees are $25 until August 28, $30 until September 27 and $35 on the day of the race, while T-shirts are $20 each.

Awards will be presented in several age categories, with the youngest being nine and under. In addition, prizes will be handed out to the overall top three men and women, the top male and female in the masters’ division, and the top male and female in the grandmasters’ division.

Those who wish to show their city spirit can compete in the Memphis Spirit Contest by wearing a costume that celebrates the city. There are four categories in the contest: 12 and under, male, female, and group. The winners in each category will receive a trophy.

No doubt many Memphis business leaders will be participating in this fun event. Many may even take the opportunity to hand out their custom business cards to their peers along the way.

The Move it Memphis event will be held at Loflin Yard on September 28 from 6:30 to 9:00 PM. For the most current information, contact Tunga Lee at 901-543-3571.
