Rolling Hills Park plan coming to fruition

January 8, 2018 by

The 180-acre property that was once the Rolling Hills Country Club in McMurray, Pennsylvania, has now been divided and the township is currently coming up with ideas for the 90-acre area that will be known as the Rolling Hills Park.

The park will be divided into two sections called the North and the South Valley. In the North Valley, the township is proposing that they build a nature play area consisting of natural boulder mounds and hillside slides, a nature center building with a picnic center, and a bike agility course. In the South Valley, the township is planning to build an adventure play area that consists of equipment such as zip lines and climbing walls, outside sports arenas, and an aquatics facility. None of these ideas have been set into motion yet.

While the park is still being planned out, the other half of the 180-acre property has already been acquired by the Peters Township School District and will soon be used to build a new high school for the area.

For residents of McMurray who are interested in learning more about the planned park developments, the township will be hosting a meeting on January 15 from 7:30 pm to 10:00 pm at the municipal building. More about the meeting can be found in the calendars section of the Peters Township website.
