Summer festival brings musical merriment to community

July 12, 2017 by

Massapequa Park residents are invited to visit Heckscher Park from now until mid-August.

The annual Huntington Summer Arts Festival is underway with a new musical artist, theater group or dance ensemble performing almost every night. It began last Thursday, July 6, and is continuing through August 13. The festival is organized by the Huntington Arts Council and is sponsored in part by several area businesses.

Everyone in Huntington, Massapequa Park and other surrounding areas is invited to attend the performance and see some of the most talented artists from around the globe. The concerts take place every night except Mondays during the festival and continue regardless of the weather. There is no admission charge to attend any of the concerts, and schedules are available on the Art Council’s website. Family concerts begin at 7:30 PM and all others at 8:30 PM.

The concert series is an eclectic mix of styles that draws in a large variety of people. The festival began in 1966, with performances taking place on the Chapin Rainbow Stage since 1979. It offers an opportunity for local artists to print up some brochures, create some presentation folders, and introduce themselves to the community.

Anyone who will miss out on the festival this year can contact the council via to learn how they can become involved with the 2018 event.
