Nassau technical school announces new principal

The Board of Cooperative Educational Services of Nassau County (Nassau BOCES) has recently named Peter Dalton, a resident of Massapequa Park, the new principal of Barry Tech in Westbury.

For the past six years, Dalton was Assistant Principal of Sewanhaka High School, where he was in charge of the technical and career education program for the district. Dalton said that the model there is analogous to that of Nassau BOCES. Students came from five different high schools in a similar fashion to how students at Barry Tech come from districts throughout Long Island.

Dalton, as principal of Barry Tech, plans to learn more about the programs at the school, work with the administrative team on areas that need updating, and build relationships with teachers. He also intends to have a clear set of expectations for faculty and students.

Dalton said he wants to be able to contribute significantly to what is being done at the school, to improve instruction, and create new programs. He added that he has heard only positive comments about the teachers and hopes to improve upon their skills and make them even better educators.

Nassau BOCEs may want to create flyers and other materials that can be distributed throughout the community, making them aware of Dalton’s appointment, and of his plans to collaborate with other principals in the county and learn from their expertise.
