Massapequa Park canines prepare for dog festival

The 2018 Long Island Dog Festival is an annual event for the entire Massapequa Park community, and is just a few days away.

The Long Island Kennel Club organizes and sponsors this annual event that offers something enjoyable for everyone in the family. All dogs are welcome and there is an event that is appropriate for every breed, age, and ability.

The Long Island Kennel Club is the oldest chartered kennel club in the United States. The organization promotes responsible care and breeding of all purebred dogs. Events like the festival help the organization to continue their efforts.

Shows include a dog obedience demonstration, dog show, and a costume contest. Dog diving competitions are available for all water-loving pups. Awards will go to Massapequa Park pets and owners wearing the best nautical costume, as well as rewards for good behavior and successful “trick tests”.

The human attendees can browse the wares at the extensive flea market expected to include items for both pets and people. In addition to getting some great photographs for poster printing, all guests can also try their luck with a 50/50 raffle. Vendors will be onsite for refreshments and additional items.

The event will be held this weekend, May 18 to 20, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm each day at the Planting Fields Arboretum, located at 1395 Planting Fields Road in Oyster Bay. Cost of admission is $20 per vehicle and includes admission to the Arboretum.
