Charitable events offer opportunities for Massapequa businesses

Local Massapequa charitable groups are busy at this time with two important cancer awareness programs.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month around the country, and many organizations are combining their efforts to get the word out to everyone. In addition, Northwell Health reported on the recent success of their 10th Annual National Ovarian Cancer Coalition Walk that was held in late September. Both opportunities help to raise both awareness and research funds and are an important reminder to area businesses of the need for everyone to be involved in charitable events.

Since nearly 40% of the population will experience cancer personally, local business owners can do their part by contributing to fairs, marathons, and other fundraisers in a number of ways. Many organizations that hold these events encourage businesses to become involved and reward those that do with an exceptional amount of advertising exposure.

In addition to having the business noted in the charity’s newsletters, event paperwork and advertising banners many allow businesses to have tables at their events. This could make it a good time to hand out promotional products like pens, hats and other items, along with business cards and brochures. It is also an opportunity for businesses to do something good for the community while they meet potential customers they would otherwise not have had access to at their shop or office.
