American Legion joins Massapequa in parade

May 9, 2017 by

The annual parade scheduled for Memorial Day is sponsored this year by the Massapequa American Legion Post #1066 and the Sgt. Peter F. Colleran Post #776.

The annual Massapequa Park Memorial Day parade, to honor those that gave their lives in service to their country, will line up and follow its traditional path from Front Street and then travel north on Park Boulevard. It will then turn west onto Clark Boulevard and come to an end at Klestinec Park.

Everyone is invited to join the marchers and the veterans from the American Legion at the park immediately after the parade for some reflection and light refreshments.

Massapequa business owners are welcome to join the memorial and march or enter a float in the parade, in an event that offers an opportunity for every company to show their appreciation to soldiers by offering commemorative promotional items to the gathered crowds, or decorating their shops and vehicles with special holiday banners and posters. It also gives them a chance to socialize with many of the town residents and area veterans.

The parade will begin at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 29. Anyone with questions about the parade or the gathering at the park, or those who would like to join in the event, can call 798-0244 extension 111 for more information.
