Mansfield kids and adults get the lead out

January 14, 2017 by

Two events in January will have both kids and adults out in the Texas winter weather running and walking for good causes.

The 2017 Winter Walk is a 5K run/walk designed for children 6 years old through 18 although families are invited to walk the one-mile route. The event will be to raise funds for the Cook Children’s Health Care System. Children who register for the 5 K race/walk will receive snowman t-shirts. At the conclusion of the two activities, everyone will get to enjoy hot chocolate, s’mores and winter festivities. Awards will be presented. Organisers of such events will usually take professional photographs for possible future poster printing.

A week later the adults will get their turn with the Run With Heart chip-timed Half Marathon. This event will also include a 5K Run and a 1Mile Fun Run/Walk. Proceeds will go to benefit the cardiology services at the Methodist Mansfield Medical Center. The race is also to honor local emergency responders, loved ones and people living with heart disease.

The Winter Walk will start at 9:00 am on Saturday, January 21st at the Katherine Rose Memorial Park 303 North Walnut Creek Drive.

Run With Heart is slated for Saturday, January 28th at the Methodist Mansfield Medical Center, 2700 E. Broad Street. Both events will be here in Mansfield.
